Gray eyes stared unseeingly at the bleak white ceiling in his room, chestnut hair framing his face, revealing creamy and unblemished skin. Black cat ears lay lazily with his hair, occasionally twitching with the sounds, his younger half-brother’s laughter, his stepfather’s chuckles, his mother’s coughing in her room. Shifting lazily to his side, his hair shifting with him to cover the side of his face that was facing the ceiling, hands coming up to rest in front of his face. His black cat tail lay over his thighs, curling at its tip, twitching in time with his ears. The chestnut-haired teen sighed deeply, closing his eyes tiredly.

Small, hyper feet rushed to his door, excitedly flinging it open, revealing the bright face of his younger half-brother Cain. The bright blue eyes smiled at his tired ones curiously that opened upon the sound of his door opening, the smile slowly leaving his young ten-year-old face. He quietly walked to the edge of the mattress, small hand hesitantly reaching out and placing itself in his older half-brother’s larger hand. The chestnut-haired teen smiled weakly, gripping his half-brother’s smaller hand, getting a smile from the young ten-year-old. Cain laid down on the edge of his older sibling’s bed, only to be enveloped and drown into his half-sibling’s chest in a hug.

“Mom was asking for you again in her sleep.” Cain muffled into B.J.’s clothed collarbone. His ice blue eyes closed as he was lulled into complete comfort. Black cat ears laid themselves back as the chestnut-haired teen's eyes glossed over, tail stopping its twitching. Cain brought his hands up to grip his older half-brother's shoulders, face buried in the black material of his sweatshirt that was given to him by their mother. Blue eyes opened slightly when he felt hands stroking his dark auburn-brown hair, "What's wrong, B.J.? Why is it that everytime that I mention mother to you, you get all... sad?"

"Mom... isn't all that healthy Cain. She might be leaving us soon."
